More pictures from the birth

So we finally chose a name. I will let Brady debut it in the morning since he chose her name. I figure it was finally his turn to choose since this little miss looks exactly like him! We have had a long day in the hospital, unexpectedly. After baby Davis's tests come back in the morning we should be discharged. I am praying all is well. She is nursing wonderfully and looking great, so snuggly and soft...well worth the wait. And she smells like heaven. Forgot how addictive that smell is, can't they just bottle that up some how. Brady should have her blog finished soon. I know, I know; I am nuts but here is the deal. These blogs are the only, I mean the only baby books that I have for the girls and baby 3 needs one just for herself too, at least for the first two years anyway. I suspect as we will convert to a family blog when she is a little older. Anyway, that is coming soon and lots more pics.

What a wonderful Mother's Day present!

I've got tons of pics and stories about birth, waiting for daddy to finish her baby blog.

Baby Ruby's Delivery

img_May_14_2008_04_05 I have been thinking a lot of how to write about your labor and delivery. Since this was our last decided la/deliv. I feel like it was something most special. Throughout this pregnancy I have been feeling as though I wanted to do things a little more naturally from the labor on up to the delivery. Not saying at all that I am brave enough for an all natuarally-home birth of which I admire tremendously but I did want to attempt to hold off from the epideral and any other drugs or medicinal intervention as possible. Come Tuesday I was finally showing signs of labor so we stayed during our appointment for induction appointment and the doc broke my water. Eventually we started patocin. I held off until 5cm for the epideral which I was very disappointed with but "girl those contractions combined with patocin were rocking my world" I think I imagined breaking Brady's neck a few times. Luckily Beth and Brady were there to talk me into how irrational I was being and reminded me of the bliss I would soon feel. They were right.....until 9cm when the epideral wore off and it was tooooooooolate for more. I screamed at Brady and Beth "I need to push, the baby is coming, I need to push." The nurses were unsure because I progressed so slowly throughout the day but the nurse took a minute to check me and she yelled to the other nurse "CALL DOC WYATT!" I kept feeling gushes of water but when the nurse checked it was actually my bloody show which meant it was really time to start pushing. The nurses told me not to push to close my legs and just wait. "Wait, wait, who is freaking waiting!!" I said a few times with a few choices of words. Ruby was not going to wait. Just in time dr wyatt came. They started to tell me when to push and I told them no you need to push the baby back in. Besides they didn't need to tell me when to push, I could feel the contractions, i could feel Rubys head, I knew when to push. I have never felt pain like that. Let me tell you, I almost wripped Brady's shirt off a few times. I remember thinking, I can't do this, let's start over, I can't do this. If there is one word I could use to describe pushing Ruby's little head out, then her shoulders, her legs and then the placenta; I would use "fire". As soon as I got done pushing Ruby out I looked at Beth with relief and she said "I guess you better watch what you ask for" I said "Your damn right!" We shared a moment of releif together and an almost giggle mixed with a few tears.
There was something wonderful about being epideral free from 9cm on, after delivery I felt such a relief. I was so coherant. I mean seriously directly after delivery I could have gotten up and walked around, I didn't get sick or nautious, I was very present for everything post partum. Didn't have a ton of swelling in my legs or tingling feeling all night long. So for 30 minutes of fire I had a night time worth of bliss. And the memory of a semi-natural birth. Praise the Lord I didn't wait to go to the hospital until I had a bloody show or I contractions were 2-3 minutes upart; I would have had you miss Ruby on my kitchen floor. Ruby was a champ during the entire labor and delivery. Her heart was strong the entire time. As soon as she came out she laid on my chest and looked right at me, ohhh what a moment. Directly after the nurses took her vitals (scored almost perfect on her apgar (sp?), isn't that what they are called?) I nursed her. It was like riding a bike. During all of this the doc gave me a shot of lytocain (he finally believed me that I could feel everything so he gave me a little releif before he gave me four stitches)I felt the shot too, but comparably it was nothing. Soon after Ruby's family and friends came in to visit and the short delivery was a distant memory.
Ruby, your entire labor experience has been filled with drama; I just wonder if this is a tale-tale sign of your little personality miss thing. I love you so much and the entire labor and delivery is a distant memory as I knew it would be. Now if we can get this whole nursing thing running smoothly again, we will be good to go. I love you so much honey. And BTW I am falling in love with your name. As you know by now, your daddy picked it and as I am loving you more and more everyday I am loving your name more and more everyday. I love you so much, your smell, your sweet little suck while I nurse you and those sweet little dimples. Until next, I love you. Mommy

PS. I received some beautiful flowers this time around so I wanted to give a shout out to Jeff and Lili, Jer and Ter, and Tenille. They are still beautiful a whole week later.

Help!!!

So the last few days have not been without drama. So, I woke up on Tuesday with a 103.1 fever and lots of pain in my left breast. Brady took me to the doc and it turns out I had mastitis. Third baby, nursing experiencing reads 2 years worth, and I have never gotten mastitis. Starting week two of Miss Ruby's life and I we get mastitis. Turns out, even though very painful; as long as you start antibotics on time its stent is only about 24hours. My HUGE dilema is I lost the milk in my left breast. I am FREAKING OUT!!!!! I mean, I have 12 months of nursing left for this little one, on one breast? and is this enough to nurish her and fill her? I talked to the lactation specialist and she has me pumping every three hours on that breast for 15 minutes. It isn't that bad, a little emotionally draining. But in the meantime, I am scared to death that miss Ruby isn't getting enough to eat. Lactations specialist says it may take 2 weeks to get milk back in that breast but my milk supply may never be what it was in that breast, WHAT!? I said. So I am turning to my nursing mommy's or anyone that kows anything about the subject. One mommy told me that there was a drug out there to help my milk supply. We all know how I am about drugs but if it will work I am up for it at this point. I will be devistated if I can't nurse my last baby (crying as I am typing) ANY ADVICE???

I love these

img_May_23_2008_11_07 I went to the lactation specialist today, spent almost two hours with her. I used to call them nursing natzi's (sp?) But boy when I need them, I'm singing a different tune. I nursed Ruby while I was there and we weighed her before and after each nursing session. After emptying both breasts we are getting 2 oz. So the nurse said as long as she had a poopy diaper before bedtime then we could hold off on supplimenting with formula but if she doesn't gain enough weight by next Tuesday then she is recommending supplementation. We will see- and she had her poopy diaper BTW right when we got home :). the girls are going to be away all weekend. So I am going to focus on de-stressing, sleeping when Ruby sleeps and nursing a ton. I feel like this will do the trick, a concentrated effort. If not we will go from there. In the meantime, I am loving these little toes. Actually they are quite long. Did I mention that she grew a 1/4 of a inch, she is going to be tall just like her sister. Oh yes, your well-baby appointment. Doc. says he thinks you are doing well wants you to get back to your birth weight (which we are working on). Your belly chord finally fell off. We enjoyed a big family bath time. Right now, you are taking a trip with daddy and I am enjoying a little independence. I love you honey. Oh yes, nights have been going ok. Nothing too tough. I am just constantly wondering if you are getting enough to eat. But you seem to have your days and nights right on, we will see if that sticks. You are awake and alert these days. And you gave your first smiles out to aunt Beth a few nights ago. Mags was a little jealous. So hopefully you will give some out to her when she returns.

First Bath

img_May_28_2008_51_08 Your belly chord fell off last week and we were able to give you your first baths...didn't find the camera until this one. But it was a very special one, your aunt Beth was here. You have not proven to liking the sink very much. But you love the big girl bath. Last night you laid on my chest forever, totally calm while the girls played around you.

First Sunday Service

img_Jun_01_2008_52_21 We took you to your first service this morning. They have the neatest section for newby's and their parents. We are super spoiled, get to sit in leather rockers and have a small buffet of beverages and muffins. The service was amazing and I couldn't quit thanking God during the whole worship time for the blessing of you and your sisters. To love, life, health and happiness we owe great thanks to Him and todays service was a huge reminder to Daddy and I.

One month old

I can not believe you are going to be one month old tomorrow. You are such an easy baby. You sleep very good. last night you went down at 8:00pm, up at 2:00 and then at 7:00. We will see if it lasts as you grow bigger and need more milk at night. Milk, so nursing is better. I did get the milk back in my right breast and you are gaining weight as needed but not enough poopy diapers, atleast you are consistant with around 1 a day. Thank you so much Tenille for letting me barrow your pump. I am giving my right breast a break for a few days, hoping it will finally heal. It took quite a between when you wouldn't nurse on the other side. If it can heal in the next few days things will be great. You are smiling more and more these days. You love your sisters voices. You still don't like riding in the car. Mammy is going to come stay with us during the weekend and we can't wait for the company. I love you honey, happy 1 month!

Brady's new babies

img_Jun_06_2008_55_01img_Jun_06_2008_00_54 Daddy got a new baby this week. The Davis boys are getting vintage fever and Brady is following suit. We picked up his "International Scout" yesterday and Brady couldn't wait to put Ruby in it. B has wanted one for years and he finally found one that he loved and it was only 2.5 hours away. The car ride with Ruby was interesting, took 6 hours to travel 139 miles. Here I am pumping and nursing in the back seat at around 10PM, Ruby is crying in daddy's arms in the front seat and we see blue lights behind us. Little did that cop know that he was about to get an eye full. What an adventure.

Big Weekend

img_Jun_10_2008_10_55 Goodness, you had a big weekend. Daddy has been out of town for a week, home for a day in between so the girls stayed at the farm for a few days for VBS and then they, Mammy and the girls; came to stay with us. All 5 of us girls had a great time. I couldn't have done it with out Mammy as I am still pumping every 2-3 hours. I think today will be my last day for that, things have healed nicely. We went to Brenon's Birthday Party, then to Daniel's, you showed Mammy your church on Sunday. You girls were so proud to share it with her, especially your big sister Mags. Then we got brave and took you all the way to the farm for the last performance of VBS at Daddy's hometown church. We got to see Pop and had a great time. You did great in the car on the way there and on the way home. You have been having a little bit of an upset tummy, I hope it is not colic! But nothing consistant yet so we will see. I love you honey. You did so good during this busy weekend.

3 reasons why...

img_Jun_16_2008_51_40img_Jun_16_2008_52_28 I am a morning person and here are three reasons why. Brady gives me a little slack for wanting to go to bed no later than 9:30 these days. Partly because I know I may have to get up at any given time at night and partly because I am so tired by the end of my days. This morning started around 5:30 AM. I enjoyed a quiet hour and a half with Ruby. Just she and I. Then maggie rolled down around 7 and Mimi around 7:30. Cuddle time with all three, perfect morning!

img_Jun_29_2008_10_03 We have had a wonderful Sunday so far. Lunch at our house with the Verdell's. Summer and Aiden joined us as well. But by the time they got here the camera was long gone from being feasable (sp?). The kids had fun running over eachother with the jeep in the backyard with.:). Gotta go Ruby is callng.

My pretty girl

img_Jul_17_2008_59_57 I love you so much. Your two month check up is coming even though you are going on three months. I put those shots off as long as possible. And that is a whole other subject. I just wanted to write what a joy you are. You remind daddy and I how easy babies are. You sleep really well at night. Usually waking once or twice with a 6 or 7 hour stretch. Your naps are getting more regular during the day and nursing wonderfully. I love you so much honey, lots of quality time spent together while the girls are at the farm. :)

10 week stats

stolen from Daniel Moody's facebook, thanks D We had your check up today I'm calling it your 2 and 3/4 check up because I waited 3 weeks after your two month just so we could get our regular doc. Your stats are as follows:
11lbs 7oz
23 3/4 inches long
15 1/4 inches head circ.
You are smiling like crazy, have giggled-very small- a few times.
Sleeping really good. Going to bed around 8pm wake around 3:30AM again at 5:30 and start your day around 8AM. You have been my best sleeper so far. Naps are good too. Pretty versatile. Sleep in your crib for atleast one long nap a day and other naps are spent in your car seat or at whatever venue I am at with your sister's for that day.
You are such a good baby. You hardly ever cry my love.
Nursing great. Just about every 2-3 hours for about 15 minutes on one side. Mommy's milk is in full force now and you are getting plenty of milk...lots of burping now.
You got a two shots today. I said no to the oral vaccination and we are puting off HIB antil your next visit. I still have unresolved issues with the vaccinations and had a long talk with your doctor today. He was very patient with me today and accomadated my reservations to get them all at once. Altogether, you were shceduled to recieve six vaccines, I think that is way too many in one setting for your little body. It is hard to know what the right thing to do is I guess I am just following my own instincts. I love you honey and enjoy every day with my precious black-haired child!

ER

Spent last night in the ER with you little Miss. You woke up to eat at 1:30 wich you haven't done for several weeks and were so hot to the touch. Checked your temp and it was 102.7, Called the med exchange and they told us to take you to the emergency room. So we did. Those doctors meant serious business too, an 11 week old with that kind of temp was no joke. So you had the works, blood, cath, cultures, prep. for a spinal. Your cultures came back great so we didn't have to do a spinal, "Praise the Lord!". So they sent us home with a viral infection diagnosis. I'll take that, watching your temp and actions closely today. Thank goodness the girls are the farm today. I love you honey. This reminds daddy and I so much about what is truly important...not where we can take a vacation this summer, not new close and cars or decorating: (a few of my personal struggles), just the simplicity of health. Health and happiness..my prayer for my family. Takes a little scare to remind us of this. Praise God for health and happiness above all things!

All of the kids finally got over there stomach virus just in time for our playdate at the Wonder Place. We had a great time and the moms actually got a chance to talk, a lot; today.

Great Mimi

img_Aug_13_2008_16_48 Recently I ran across this photo of Mimi. Yes, Mimi Davis was named after her. Her real name was Mildred June but I love the name Mimi and told Mimi that if I ever had a little girl someday that I was going to name her after her great-Mimi! Anyway, My aunt recently wrote that she saw some similarities in Ru and Mimi Murray so I wanted to post a picture...I definitly see it!

Easy Breezy

img_Sep_03_2008_08_50 Ok, I say it all the time but you have been my easiest baby so far. I won't tell maggie and mimi that but since they can't read I will write it. You are jus tso pleasant and so low maintenance. Sometimes I wonder if it is just because I expect less the third time around or if you really are just that good. Either way I enjoy having you so much!

The sweetest thing

Not sure how to explain but there is something super sweet that happens when you are nursing a four month old. By now babies are exploring things with there hands. In the middle of the night when Ru is not too too hungry and a little bit awake and I am nursing her she does the sweetest thing. She brushes her hand all across my chest. Her sweet little hand runs across my coler bone, onto my shoulder and back again. It is the sweetest most gentle feeling, her little soft hand. I don't ever want to forget that feeling. I love you honey!

Where are my legs?

img_Sep_22_2008_49_52 Ru is moving all around lately. She can role from back to front and even though she is not too ambitious she can pretty much get to her destination with a few twist and wiggles. She was exploring the odiman today and this is where we found her.

So next week I will get your 5 month stats. You are gaining weight wonderfully. I can't wait to see how you have grown! Maggie took the picture of the three of us girls and I loved it. It totally captured the moment. Everyone in such a good mood post-naps!

5 months old

img_Oct_04_2008_58_02 Ruby's stats are as follows:
13lbs 14 oz.
head is 16.5 inches
Height is 25.5 inches

She is doing really good. Smiling and giggling so much. She has really found her voice and can get pretty loud. It is funny, Mags and I usually get a good laugh when we hear her make a new noise. She rolled from her tummy to her back this week. I might post the video. She loves to take walks in the stroller. She is breast feeding about every 3 hours...including the nights sometimes more. I know, I have to get that under control. We tried rice cereal a few times just to see her face but she is nursing exclusively for now. Doc said she looks great. She is my little cuddle-bug, so happy and so sweet all the time. Oh yes, the last two Sundays I let her stay in the nursery at church by herself and she did great. This picture was taken just after she rolled over!

Taco Tuesday and Daddy

img_Oct_23_2008_27_39 We have been eating at home so much. I mean this is a huge feet for our family. We were serial out-to-eaters! I love having dinner at our table as a family and I also love saving the money! I can say we have been reformed. One thing we are enjoying about dining in is having friends over for dinner too. We had the Hick's and Beth over for Taco Tuesday. Beth came with flowers and mnms for the girls...let me tell you, she thinks of everything!
Also, every other week the big girls spend quite a bit of time at the farm with Mammy and Pops so it is prime time for daddy and I to get in some quality time with our snug-bug.

Birthday Party and More

img_Oct_25_2008_10_23 We went to Juju's second birthday party today. We had so much fun. You wore your first Halloween costume and you looked precious. It was so funny when you saw Maggie and Mimi in their costumes and then we got you dressed you kicked your legs so much and made all kinds of fun noises. you were so excited in your own tiny "5 month old" way!

My First Halloween

img_Oct_31_2008_00_42 I had my first Halloween tonight. We all went as skeletons. Left the house around 6pm and I was in bed and a sleep by 7:30. My sisters wanted to get home to greet all of the neighborhood trick-or-treaters. It was lots of fun, I was a little scared of mom and dad though with their painted faces...ps. they were the only parents in the neighborhood that participated ;). My sisters are in the shower now washing off all of that crazy face paint! And then they will all go to sleep with a sugar-coma!

Ava's 2

Well Ava is 2 now. We can't believe it! Lili and Jeff threw a wonderful party Ava at the park. Lots of great music and plenty of playing for the kids. The fall weather was nice, I am so glad it is not hot anymore!

Trooper

img_Nov_16_2008_40_35 This weekend was your Godmothers big weekend, she turned 30 and we had a blow out birthday party. This meant lots of decorating, cooking and just being there to help; which also meant that you were apart of it all! You were such a trooper. I love you honey. I hear you put on quite a show for your Mammy and Pop last night while they were babysitting for the actual party... thank you so much too BTW!!!

Minty

God brought us a stray kitty and the five of us are smitten with the new kitten. She is so gentle and so lovely. I didn't even think she had claws until I really investigated, that is how gentle she is! She lets the girls do whatever they want with her, which is hard for Brad and I to watch. She sleeps with Maggie. The other night I went in to the girls room and Maggie was using her as a pillow, Minty was fast asleep and was loving life. Today, Ru was laying on the floor and Minty squeezed her little head under Ru's leg.. an attempt to cuddle with a 6 month old. I hope "Minty" sticks around. Because we are falling in love with her. This is coming from the same mommy that wanted nothing to do with an addition to our family! PS. Mags named her Minty, not sure where she got that but I guess since she was the one praying for a cat she gets to name it.

Lots of Changes plus a nursing montage

img_Nov_28_2008_43_58 Well Missy, lots of changes for you this month. You said your first word, Mommy! The only one out of all three of my babies to say Mommy first! Also, you started sitting on your own this weekend, thanks to a little assistance and encouragement from aunt Ni'ni. You have also been trying real solids this month. Natalia shared her green been, squash and biter buiscuts with you. I think you enjoyed all three! And in lue of all of this new food I was reminded that nursing come to an end soon enough and I better get some sweet pictures while I can. Especially since I have none with your sisters. I tried to make them as decent as possible but still get the point across if ever you are looking for pictures. I love you honey. What a wonderful first Thanksgiving it was with you here!

Taco Tuesday

It is hard as a family of five to get together with a lot of our single friends that are very dear to us. So Beth made up "Taco Tuesday" and B and I figured it was a great way to hang out with them on a regular basis with 3 children, not like we can meet them for a late dinner that much anymore so this was a perfect way to stay connected at least every two weeks. Brady captured the evening on the D90 this last week and I loved the way the gorilla style filming turned out. We didn't get Josh in it or enough of everyone but Brady didn't want to hide behind the camera all night so he mostly only got scenes from the beginning of the night. Ruby didn't get eat the enchiladas yet, she had sweet potatoes. She was also in bed by 6:45 so she didn't get to visit that much.

A Christmas party just for the Girls!

img_Dec_11_2008_38_33 Beth goes out of her way to make you girls feel so special. She made such a special night for you and your sisters tonight! A Christmas party just for the girls! She got each of her God daughters a special present made homemade pizza, decorated the house, it was so sweet and so beautiful! She reminds me that the details are what makes mothering special!..I often forget that. We enjoyed our evening so much with her and Ava and aunt Lili. Hands down, best Godmother!!!

Baby Girl's first Christmas

img_Dec_26_2008_16_28 '08 was your very first Christmas. And what a sweet time it has been with you in our family of five. I love you so much honey. You have been such a good sport through the chaos and fun. You loved spending time at the farm and you enjoyed being around everyone so much. I think you felt the excitement from everyone. Merry Christmas my sweet!

First Christmas '08

img_Dec_27_2008_56_56 What a joy it was having you this year as a new addition for our holiday season. You have been so precious. What a sweet memory I will cherish having you here. You didn't get very many presents from mommy and daddy as you are the third child and we are more realistic now about the needs of an 8 month old :). Nevertheless you did get some camping gear, ha..needs!? Anyway, you enjoyed so many holiday foods, sweet potatoes, spinach (thanks to aunt Dinah), and buiscits (sp) thanks to Mammy, mmmmmm love those buiscits and chocolate gravy! What a wonderful year it has been. Can't wait until next year, you will be 1.5 WOW!

The Hicks Family has arrived!

img_Dec_26_2008_42_26 Jer and Ter and the boys got here today and we have had a fabulous time so far. Too bad you have the croup! You are trudging along but we did manage to go out for pizza and play here for a little while. It is hard to tell you are sick even except that horrible cough because other than that you have the same personality as always "my chill baby!" Looking forward to the next few days with your Hicks cousins!....The "next few days" came and went too fast. We had a wonderful time with Jer and Ter! On our second day with the Hickses we enjoyed playing on the trampoline and take-out at Jeff's for dinner followed by some Dirty Santa. We had a wonderful time, the girls fell asleep over there so that we all had a chance to visit adult-style. Sadly we have to back out of our New Years with them as B won't be here but we will see the boys again this weekend and we are already looking forward to it!

img_Dec_31_2008_51_30 You have been enjoying so many foods lately. Last night while the girls and I enjoyed some pizza you enjoyed a whole banana! It was so funny and the girls were getting a kick out of our little monkey. I can not explain the energy among sibblings these days, it is precious, contagious and so special! I have been wanting to take some pics of you in the precious ornament onsie that Tenille got you too. Thank you so much Tenille it is precious!

Pictures and baby oatmeal

img_Jan_27_2009_21_40 You tried baby oatmeal this morning for the first time today. I don't think you liked it. You are used "knumbing" on a flavor-filled strawberry in the mornings so I don't think you cared for the bland oatmeal. We'll try again later. Mimi doesn't like you eating all of her strawberries!

Something I really like!

img_Jan_27_2009_35_41img_Jan_27_2009_36_08 I copied off of Dinah with Ruby's baby food. She has fed both of her babies all organic food, from boiling her own organic veggies to mincing her own fresh fruits. I have finally gotten brave enough to do this with Ruby, as if I have all of the time in the world the third time around, I know. What I learned from Dinah over the holiday's is that for that much goodness it doesn't take a ton of work. Anyway, long story short; other than a few random foods that Brady and I have reached for in the time of need (rolls, crackers, pizza crust :) Ruby has only eaten fresh-real veggies and fruits. cough, cough...except for the baked cheetos Mimi left out yesterday, the cookie daddy gave me last night, and a few more goodies! oh well my mommy has good intentions :). She is still nursing but desires a lot more food! Anyway, her favorite right now are mixed berries! Bannanas, blackberries, rasberries, blue berries and strawberries. It is so easy to cut a few cups up and dice them, put them in some tupper-ware (SP?) and use it for a few days. I have a video I will post soon, shows just how much she loves it!

Just shy of 9 months! And she is on the move!

We had your check up on Friday so I wanted to note a few of your stats and progresses.

Weight 17lbs.
Length 27.5 inches
Food nursing every 3-4 hours sometimes less sometimes more. You have eaten banannas, strawberries, frozen waffle, blackberries, blueberries, green beans, spinach, sweet potatoes, rasberries, apple, mashed potatoes, breads, carrots, peas, black eyed peas, crackers, a little ice cream ;) just for curiousity, and daddy admitted to me that he gave you a cookie the other night, said you loved it!
Prabably more, I just can't remember right now.
Sleep: Finally sleeping good. On a normal night down around 7 and up around 7. Two naps a day. You are so easy going little miss. I like to be here for your naps but if your sisters activities keep us from that than you are pretty easy to nap in the car. Or hold off until later, hardly even showing cranky signs. What a precious last baby you have been! So sweet.
Activities: You are finally crawling, very slowly and very cautiously. You are too funny. You are trying to pull up on things and reminding how scary this discovery can be. You love to sit with your toys, so content to just hang out. You love banging your toys, I like to call it "making music".
Words: You talk all the time, when your sisters aren't here! They are so noisy when here it is hard to hear you. But the minute they go the farm you jabber non stop. You can say momma, dadda, and a few other unrecongizable jabber.
You are the sweetest baby little miss. Most lade back sweetie I have had so far. You make us all smile.
Hopefully you can look at this someday and you can see your own little ones in these words.

Hanging with the big girls

img_Feb_06_2009_27_13 I don't like the girls to eat in front of the TV, same reason why I know I shouldn't do it :)! But on special occasions, an extra crazy day, whatever I give in and let them watch ha cartoon with their lunch. Today, Ruby joined them. She was so cute, playing along!

Bath and more

img_Feb_12_2009_02_03 No more clean-nursing baby. I forgot how when you start more solids with a little bitty they get sooo messy. Most of the time you end up in the sink after meal times. I caught in on camera today. Maggie gets a kick out of it everytime.
Also, little miss; you have gone from crawling a little to wanting to stand. Pulling up on everything. You better not walk anytime soon!

Little People play already!

No lie, you are playing with Little People. I have said a few times this last month..Mags could color at 10 months, Mimi could run and didn't have something for you miss. Well, daddy and I have been amazed in the last few weeks with your playing skills. No joke, you grab two little people look at them with different expressions, put them in the cars, push the cars, put them in the rooms and houses-right now you fight Mimi for the castle. I don't remember your sisters ever showing this kind of an imagination this young! So I guess sweet girl, your 10 month wonder is a Big Imagination! We love you sweet pea. As soon as our camera gets back from the shop, I will take some video to prove this play :).

Tuesday mornings you stay in the nursery during moms and more. You love rocking in the chair with your care-takers. Poppy snapped a picture of it. You are in there for 2.5 hours and not a single one of you guys fall asleep the entire time.

Weaning

img_Apr_04_2009_47_25 I started weaning Ruby in anticipation of her upcoming 1st birthday! I can't believe you are going to be 1 soon Missy. Weaning is going well. No more night time feedings and no more feeding you to sleep, I know; I was bad. But she doesn't seem to miss it. Lots of thoughts on weaning my last baby...closing the book on a long chapter, ready and sad all at once. Nursing has been such a big part of my life for the past 5 years and to think that I am "just" done is weird, shouldn't there be some type of ceremony :). I don't know, a trophy or something.

img_Apr_20_2009_21_33 Ruby is two weeks shy of her first so daddy suprised Ruby with a new carseat, he is quick for change and I am slow to change :). When I looked in the back seat this morning I realized that we were a driving advertisement for Evenflo (hence my title). So fun having Ruby facing me now! I can not believe I don't have anymore rear facing babies :(.

Your middle name of course is from your mommy but more importantly-originally from your grandpa Hicks, my daddy, Daniel Hicks. You have grown so much this year honey. We love you so much and can't wait to spend the rest or our lives watching your grow and learn and love. What a special little person your have been to our family. Happy Birhtday!

Bday Party...Baby Dedication...Mothers Day

img_May_10_2009_13_00img_May_10_2009_16_09img_May_10_2009_27_11 We packed it all into one Sunday! We started your very special day this morning with Mammy and Poppy, they got to spend the night with us last night. They took you for Sunday donuts which is a little tradition in the Davis house, mostly daddy wanting an excuse to eat donuts ;). I stayed home and finished a few details for today. Then off to church for your dedication. It was so touching and just beautiful. I love you honey. After service family and Godparents came to join us for a small-sweet birthday party. Your daddy cooked a great lunch. You LOVED your cupcake. You also loved your presents. More than I remember your big sisters every enjoying their presents at one year old. You were so into your little people that aunt Lili got you. And thank heavens for your new ride from Mammy and Pop, you were in desperate need of some new wheels :). I love you honey. I felt some major blessings today!

Seagrove '09

img_May_24_2009_03_42 First time to the beach little miss! It was so cute seeing you crawl in the sand. Daydreaming about seeing you play with your sisters in the years to come. You did great during the long drives. I was very suprised! You slept in your pack and play in our closet, it was funny saying "night night" and then closing the "closet door". You are such a trooper and are so concerned with being a sister too that I think you forget about doing typical one year old behaviors. Can't wait to take you on many more vacations! Love Mommy

Houston, we have a walker!

Surely I didn't forget to mention that Ruby can walk now! With an emphasis on can and not is. She picks and chooses when she wants to get verticle. Was a little worried that she wasn't taking that next step...pun intended but no more worrying because our girl is completly able as of this weekend. I love you honey and I am kind of enjoying the "late" walking, you seem so aware and your expressions are priceless as you are figuring it all out. Proud, proud momma!

1 year check-up

Yes you are going to be 1.5 and you had your 1 year check-up last week. Oh well, I HAVE THREE CHILDREN...excuse enough. I hate the theory behind 1 year and 1.5 year shots too and I have been putting them off like crazy.
You did great. Here are a few of your stats:
lbs: 20
growth chart: 15%
Foods you like: Lots of milk, peas, turkey, strawberries, watermelon, rasberries, macaroni, spagetti, toast with butter, oatmeal, anything sweet, grilled chicken, granola bars, apples, blueberries, pretzils
Words: you are not very verble yet but you pretty much understand everything we are saying. You have said all of our names, bye bye, hi, backpack, shoe..20 or so words at very random times
Favorite things: Paci, blanket, dance parties, dogs,
snuggling,watching videos on mommy's computer.
You are really starting get your own voice amongst the madness. Mammy and Pops say you are a pistol but I don't see it..not comparred to the way your sisters were at the is age. Pretty much, you are easy going, sensitive and sweet.
Mobile: yes walking everywhere. Always cautious..you crack me up.
I love you honey and the joy you bring us.
Mommy

Pumpkin Patch 09

img_Oct_23_2009_35_08img_Oct_23_2009_36_03 Maggie had a day off from school and MnM group was going to the pumpkin patch so decided to pack up, head out to the muddy-cold fields. We had fun but you didn't like the mud too much. You enjoyed the hayride the most and the crackers in the car on the ride home. Many years to come pumpkin patching...maybe next year you will be able to carry your own pumpkin! love mommy

We took a wonderful trip to Jer and Tera's in South Carolina. You were under the weather for the first two days but you would hardly notice. You enjoyed a little bit of turkey and of course some rolls. You had so much fun on Friday when we went to Gaddytown with all of the Hicks cousins. Mostly you enjoyed playing at the Hicks home. It was a perfect trip. Your aunt Tera and Uncle Jeremie were amazing hosts and did a wonderful job cooking and feeding three families all weekend....yes we were spoiled rotten!

Christmas 09

img_Jan_01_2010_30_19 Sweetheart, you were so sick this Christmas. Just in time for Christmas Eve and then all the way through our trip to the farm. You were quite cranky and quite tired but you enjoyed your baby dolls from Santa. Daddy's new banjo-dance parties. A visit from Jeremie and Tera for New Years. You are all better now and enjoying playing with all of your big sisters toys. You also enjoyed the lights this year and reminded mommy how every tree is "pretty, momma!" Christmas wouldn't be the same with out my lovely Ruby. Merry Christmas sweet Ruby and Happy New Year!!

Growing so fast!

Somewhere there is a fine line between baby to toddler to kid...and so on. It seems like lately you are trying so hard to cross that first line.
Sweetie, it seems you went from not talking at to copying everything we say, in sentences. It is so sweet and sad all at once.
Today you toddled up to me and said "is zis puple, momma?" I said, "Yes, it is!" you repeated by pointing and saying "puple."
My sweet baby, growing so fast!

Snowy Days in February

You absolutely LOVED the snow. You could have stayed out in the freezing cold for hours. I had to take you inside kicking and screaming, you loved it!
